Welcome to the Saint John Boar’s Head Festival

This unique Christmas festival, rooted in ancient times, begins with the secular merry-making of 14th century England focused around the head of a slain boar. To the strains of “The Boar’s Head Carol” all join the herald in “honoring the King of bliss” for overcoming this most feared of beasts. This secular festival complete with such familiar carols as “Deck the Hall” and “Here We Come A-Wassailing” is powerfully transformed into a portrayal and celebration of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem with shepherds and Magi joining the lords and ladies of the English court in praise of Jesus Christ, who has by His death and resurrection, triumphed over our greatest foe, sin and the devil.

A lavish production involving over 120 cast members in medieval costumes along with a choir and orchestra of over 80 musicians will bring this ancient festival to life. We look forward to sharing this message with you this December!
